ChrisRstyle: I am obsessed with crew necks; they are actually the most comfortable things on the planet! Lets be honest, every now and then we need a day to just snuggle up in our clothes. I wore one today and it was a religious experience. I HIGHLY recommend them.
Dog Tags! December 18, 2009
ChrisRstyle: I was at the mall the other day looking for things for Christmas, and I saw the person in line in front of me fork over fifteen hundred dollars for a David Yurman dog tag! Oy vey, let’s be honest; as much as I love nice clothing, fifteen hundred dollars for a dog tag in a recession is a little excessive. Why not go to Astrein’s in Birmingham and spend MUCH less on a dog tag that you can personalize! Choose from peace signs, hearts and more. Think about it as a responsible way to spend your money!

Don Thomas! December 3, 2009
ChrisRstyle: Snow! I saw it again (up north, but that means its coming). Snow means skiing, skiing means ski clothes! Looking chic on the slopes is such a top priority for every skier, don’t even lie to yourself and say it’s not! We always want to look our best, right? Look at these fabulous options from Don Thomas:

Acceptable Concert Attire December 1, 2009

LMFAO!
ChrisRstyle: On Friday, I had a religious experience…being just 10 feet away from LMFAO, Shwayze and the Paradiso Girls. I know, too much to handle, right? However, I was disappointed with the attire on my fellow concertgoers! So let’s just say for lack of a better word, UNFASHIONABLE! A bikini, really NOT okay!

Rihanna in the Christopher Kane Gorilla Print Dress.
Here are some classy alternatives to THAT…
Christopher Kane Gorilla Shirt Dress –
Linda Dresner (BEG FOR IT)
Smoky Plaid Tunic –
Anthropologie, $128
Alexander Wang Cage Vest –
Tender (currently on sale!)
Rag & Bone Boyfriend Shirt (wear it as a dress with a belt) -
Tender, $165
Bundle Up… In Style! November 18, 2009

Anthropologie updates the peacoat with corduroy & crinoline.
ChrisRstyle: Cold weather is here! I saw 32 on the temperature gauge this morning on the way to school, hmmm. As excited as I am for winter fashion, cold weather is NOT my thing. The best way to beat the cold is by putting on an intense winter jacket, here are some that take chic to the next level!
Skirted Peacoat – Anthropologie, $168

Oversized buffalo check print in a contemporary silhouette from Roots.
Buffalo Check Cocoon Coat – Roots, $128
Rivington Melton Jacket – Roots, $198
And of course, it wouldn’t be a blog post from me if it didn’t include something from Tender - Joseph Nylon Parka, $685.
Shades. Trunk. Show. November 10, 2009
Okay, so I know that I blogged about Shades a couple of posts ago, but Thursday night they had a spectacular event that I just must rave about. For the Pierce Shopping night, Shades Optical hosted a trunk show which displayed all of the new styles of eyeglasses from designers such as Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith, Barton Perreira, etc. I. Was. Drooling.
Their glasses buyer is
actually out of this world. They follow trends TO A TEE. The team at Shades never ceases to amaze me with their incredible knack for choosing the most beautiful frames to sell to us, the humble consumers. Oh but the event, they know how to host a party, amazing food, great music, fabulous people. TO DIE FOR.
Thigh High! November 3, 2009
So, sitting in Greek Islands the other day with my friend Katherine, I saw the one thing I have been waiting to see for close to 9 months, BOOTS. Boot season has officially arrived, and it is not a quiet arrival. Everyday on my way to school, I pass Tender and look in the window to see their amazing selection of this season’s hottest footwear trend,
OVER THE KNEE BOOTS. In my humble opinion, the most glamorous boots money can buy at the moment are the Lanvin black leather over the knee boots at Tender.
Here are some fierce finds around town…
- Ternate Boots (Anthropologie, $525)
- Lanvin (mentioned above at Tender, good luck convincing your parents to spring for these)
- Hunter Rainboots (Pink Pump priced from $100-$150)
- Hunter Ascot Boot (at Pink Pump for $495, but they’re made in Italy so that has to count for something right?)
Very Very Vintage October 26, 2009
The greatest event of the year happened this weekend. Actually, the greatest thing to ever happen…Not Christmas, or Hanukkah, or anything in between, it was the Birmingham Unitarian Church’s designer vintage sale. Oh. My. God. As soon as you walked in there was Chanel, Prada, Gucci, St. John flying everywhere around you, for AMAZING prices…Sorry if you missed it.
Oh well, more for
me! Anyways, one of the best tables present was the table put on by Cinderella’s Attic, which is a thrift shop in Downtown Birmingham on Frank Street across from Blockbuster. In all honesty, I had never heard about it until Saturday, but after the show I went to check it out, and it was sooo worth the trip. Vintage Armani jackets, vintage Gucci and Prada bags, you name it, they most certainly have it. Stop in, you will not be disappointed!
Cool Shades! October 23, 2009
This is a post for everyone that has eyes as bad as I do, or
actually, anyone that uses glasses period. If this applies to you, and trust me, by the end of this post you’ll wish it does, GO TO SHADES OPTICAL. The team at Shades is second to none! Dr. Bill, the head honcho, is honestly the coolest man ever. Marcia, the Chief Optical Guru, is my girl! Every time I go in for a new pair of glasses, her service is unbelievable…and I haven’t even begun to mention the glasses themselves! They have every designer optics brand you can think of: Prada, Paul Smith, Chanel, Oliver Peoples, Mosley Tribes. You name it, they have it. Plus, glasses are an accessory that, when done right, can be an excellent investment! Fabulous for a recession! …which is my justification for continued visits.
