SamlovesBham: Hey everybody! So, only 2 more weeks of hitting the books and then….winter break!!! You’ll have all the time in the world to do whatever you want, but what is there to do? Here are some suggestions:
-Window shopping! Grab a cup of hot chocolate from Starbucks or Zuma Cafe (formerly Java Hutt) and grab a friend for a walk among the beautiful holiday lights in Birmingham!
-Sledding! Birmingham has great parks, and when there is snow on the ground – which there will be – sledding can be loads of fun for EVERYBODY! I fully intend on grabbing my sled the second the ground is white.
-See a movie! Sometimes it’s just too cold to hang around outside, but there are some great movies coming out this holiday season! I personally am really excited to see Sherlock Holmes on Christmas.
-Enjoy the holiday perks! Come enjoy the Magic of Birmingham event on Dec. 10th and 17th to hear caroling, shop late, take a free carriage ride and maybe receive free gifts that are being handed out randomly all night!!

SamlovesBham: Hey everybody! For those of you who go to Seaholm or Groves, a new trimester starts this week! New trimester = new classes and new classes can sometimes require you to go buy new books! Whether you need a Spanish-English dictionary, or a new copy of an old classic, you can find it at Borders in Birmingham (it’s off of Woodward). Even if you don’t NEED a book, you may be a book lover like me and just WANT one
SamlovesBham: The annual Birmingham Lighting ceremony is this Wednesday November 25th!! It’s from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on the steps of City Hall and even though it might be a little cold, there will be Chirstmas music and hot chocolate for everybody!! Come with friends or family, you can eat dinner in Birmingham and watch the city light up for the holiday season! I go every year with friends and family and always have a blast – it gets me excited for the MOST wonderful time of the year!!
SamlovesBham: The state meet for girls swimming was this weekend and our hometown teams (Seaholm and Groves) swam great! Groves finished in 6th place overall with 2 fantastic divers and some great races by their swimmers! Seaholm (Go Maples!) finished 4th overall, and all the girls on the team swam their best times, dove their best dives and had a blast! The relays were especially exciting, the medley relay of Kelsey, Calley, Megan, and Emily finished 6th (1.49.41!), the 200 free relay of Sam (me

So, you know that here in Birmingham there are great opportunities for entertainment! I LOVE going to the movies, but sometimes it is even more fun to go see a play! The Village Players of Birmingham put on FANTASTIC plays with talented casts and amazing productions! I went with some friends to see “The Mousetrap” when it was playing, and we had a blast!

With all the bad weather we’ve been getting, I just thought it’d be great to remind all you MOVIE LOVERS that some great movies are out right now, including Paranormal Activity (that looks really scary), Michael Jackson’s This Is It (to
remind us of the King of Pop!), Saw VI (it’s the 6th one, but they just keep getting better), and Where the Wild Things Are (it was my favorite book when I was little!). Also, tickets for New Moon (Twilight Saga) are on sale NOW! I’m SO excited!!! Oh, and the best news yet is that Matinee Madness is BACK!!! It’s only $5 to see a movie Monday-Thursday in Birmingham (except on holidays and movie releases) before 8pm (but why would you be seeing a movie much later than that on a school night anyways, right?) So when the bad weather blues hits you, remember that you can go to the movies at The Birmingham 8 or The Palladium 12! For more info on what movies are out and to check show times go to:
Come to Seaholm High School tonight (Tuesday, October 27) for some exciting entertainment!!! The Seaholm Choir and Orchestra will be having our annual Masquerade Concert at 7pm! Aside from the amazing music, everybody performing will be in costume (which can be funny or cute, and sometimes just downright strange ).
Come to the biggest football game of the year tonight at 7pm at the Seaholm Maple Field and watch the Seaholm Maples battle it out against the Groves
Falcons. From friendly school rivalry to the close calls and fantastic races, excitement will be in the air! No matter which school you are rooting for, this will be entertaining 60 minutes of football! Come tailgate before the game to hear the marching band play and have FREE hotdogs!
