So with all this great weather we’ve been having Birmingham is definitely the ideal place to be. You can visit the parks, get some ice cream in town (Cold Stone and Kilwin’s are both AMAZING), grab a bite to eat and be sure to sit at one of the many outdoor patios. Enjoy your free time because summer is just around the corner! :)

Bham On Ice! February 15, 2010

Filed under: Bham Events — SamlovesBham @ 4:54 pm

SamlovesBham: Home for break? That doesn’t mean you have to stay in and be bored! With all the snow we’ve gotten you can make snow angels, snowmen or go sledding….but what if you don’t want to play in the snow? You can still celebrate the winter by going ICE SKATING!!!! Open skate at the Birmingham Ice Arena is usually on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Friday from 4:35-6pm, Saturday & Sunday from 1:30-3pm). Since it’s midwinter break there is ALSO open skate Wednesday Feb. 17 (1:30-3pm), and Friday Feb. 19 (9:30-10:50am)! The cost depends on residency, but no matter what it’s under $6, and if you don’t own skates don’t worry about it – it’s only $3 to rent!

Happy Gifting! December 23, 2009

Filed under: Bham Events — SamlovesBham @ 6:59 pm

SamlovesBham: “Hey Sam! Can’t wait for tonight!!” A week earlier, while caroling for Seaholm’s Choir, Sam wasEmJ talking about how she was going to pass out gifts with the Youth Action Board (YAB) on Dec. 17. When I heard her saying this I practically jumped on her saying “I want to help! I love being like Santa.” So one week later, Sam and I head to the meeting place to get the presents. We pack up, and head out, and it wasn’t even 6 minutes until we were mobbed by tons of wide eyed people on the street saying “oh look it’s the secret Santas”! We ran into packs of kids, teens, even HUGE groups of adults! Even though we practically got mobbed every time we went out, I had so much fun!

That was Emily, a freshman from Seaholm and one of my friends. We had a great time with the Magic of Birmingham, and I know that all of the shoppers did too!

Happy Holidays Everybody!

So little School, Then sooo much time! December 7, 2009

sherlock_holmes_movie_posteraSamlovesBham: Hey everybody! So, only 2 more weeks of hitting the books and then….winter break!!! You’ll have all the time in the world to do whatever you want, but what is there to do? Here are some suggestions:

-Window shopping! Grab a cup of hot chocolate from Starbucks or Zuma Cafe (formerly Java Hutt) and grab a friend for a walk among the beautiful holiday lights in Birmingham!

-Sledding! Birmingham has great parks, and when there is snow on the ground – which there will be – sledding can be loads of fun for EVERYBODY! I fully intend on grabbing my sled the second the ground is white.

-See a movie! Sometimes it’s just too cold to hang around outside, but there are some great movies coming out this holiday season! I personally am really excited to see Sherlock Holmes on Christmas.

-Enjoy the holiday perks! Come enjoy the Magic of Birmingham event on Dec. 10th and 17th to hear caroling, shop late, take a free carriage ride and maybe receive free gifts that are being handed out randomly all night!!
