Anthropologie updates the peacoat with corduroy & crinoline.

ChrisRstyle: Cold weather is here! I saw 32 on the temperature gauge this morning on the way to school, hmmm. As excited as I am for winter fashion, cold weather is NOT my thing. The best way to beat the cold is by putting on an intense winter jacket, here are some that take chic to the next level!

Skirted Peacoat – Anthropologie, $168

Buffalo Check Cocoon Coat – Roots, $128

Oversized buffalo check print in a contemporary silhouette from Roots.

Buffalo Check Cocoon Coat – Roots, $128

Rivington Melton Jacket – Roots, $198

And of course, it wouldn’t be a blog post from me if it didn’t include something from Tender - Joseph Nylon Parka, $685.

hunter_ascot_bootSo, sitting in Greek Islands the other day with my friend Katherine, I saw the one thing I have been waiting to see for close to 9 months, BOOTS. Boot season has officially arrived, and it is not a quiet arrival.  Everyday on my way to school, I pass Tender and look in the window to see their amazing selection of this season’s hottest footwear trend,

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS. In my humble opinion, the most glamorous boots money can buy at the moment are the Lanvin black leather over the knee boots at Tender.

Here are some fierce finds around town…hunter-wellington-boots-fal1

  • Ternate Boots (Anthropologie, $525)
  • Lanvin (mentioned above at Tender, good luck convincing your parents to spring for these)
  • Hunter Rainboots (Pink Pump priced from $100-$150)
  • Hunter Ascot Boot (at Pink Pump for $495, but they’re made in Italy so that has to count for something right?)

m_c860c851466233fd56a3f0641488c438The greatest event of the year happened this weekend.  Actually, the greatest thing to ever happen…Not Christmas, or Hanukkah, or anything in between, it was the Birmingham Unitarian Church’s designer vintage sale.  Oh. My. God.  As soon as you walked in there was Chanel, Prada, Gucci, St. John flying everywhere around you, for AMAZING prices…Sorry if you missed it.

Oh well, more forn1178001895_30331_2004 me!  Anyways, one of the best tables present was the table put on by Cinderella’s Attic, which is a thrift shop in Downtown Birmingham on Frank Street across from Blockbuster. In all honesty, I had never heard about it until Saturday, but after the show I went to check it out, and it was sooo worth the trip. Vintage Armani jackets, vintage Gucci and Prada bags, you name it, they most certainly have it.  Stop in, you will not be disappointed!

Scarves, Scarves, Scarves! October 16, 2009

Okay, so I was thinking the other day, about how I am one of the select few people at Groves making use of one of the most brilliant accessories ever invented:  THE SCARF.  Please people; do not be afraid of scarves!  They are actually the easiest and most chic way to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to a really boring school outfit.  It just gives it that extra mmpf, you know?  Well, I went around Birmingham trying hard to find the best scarves at lots of different prices, here’s the A-list:

  • White beaded bottom scarf at Anthropologie – $58
  • Flash Accessories black and white flower patterned light knight scarf – $39
  • Lanvin large gray knit scarf at Tender – $435

For men, there were not many options.  Fortunately, there’s Roots, which carries an amazing plaid, light knit scarf which runs at about $38.
