Liberty Title was established in Ann Arbor by William ”Bill” Richardson. Since then, it has closed and insured more than 150,000 transactions. Bill’s son Tom, and Tom’s wife Michele Richardson, acquired the company in 1990. When the “Great Recession” killed off many businesses in metro Detroit, Liberty opened new offices throughout southeast Michigan, hiring only “the best of the best”. What began as a single office with four employees is now a company with 12 locations and 125 employees, including their son Bill and daughter Tracy. “We’ve grown 350 percent since 2007,” Michele says, “and we’ve been able to hire top people who appreciate our ‘made in Michigan’ and family-friendly workplace philosophies.” The Detroit Free Press has named Liberty Title one of the top 100 Workplaces in Michigan for the last four years - 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
