Barbara Deyo is proud to announce the opening of her latest venture, DEYO, an upscale studio for face and body. DEYO will house a top of the line make up studio, serene esthetic and massage rooms, personalized air-brushed tanning applications, special-event hair styling, and an eclectic boutique of personal and gift items.
Owner/Make up artist Barbara Deyo is a veteran of the industry, being recognized by Allure Magazine as “Best of the Best” in the country for her talents. After her return to Detroit from Los Angeles, Barbara launched Boldface Makeup studio, then expanded to open and co-own Touch Spa – both in Birmingham, MI – gaining many local and national honors. Her work has been published in Redbook, Rolling Stone, People, Seventeen, Ambassador, HOUR, RealDetroit Weekly and many more. She has worked with countless celebrities, such as Roselyn Sanchez, Bob Seger, Kid Rock, Dennis Quaid, Ethan Hawke, and Kerrie Washington. During her many years in television both in LA and Detroit, she worked for NBC, UPN, CBS, FOX, TNT and BET, doing makeup for local and national broadcasts. Her loyal clientele spans the globe, and travel to her whenever possible, just to have their eyebrows done!
Karen (Edwards) Halkey has returned to Birmingham after 10 years, working in top rated Spas in Metro Detroit. Her holistic approach has been helping clients look and feel their natural best since 1991. Karen has worked in various aspects of the salon industry as a salon manager, Aveda Account Executive/Educator, aesthetician and makeup artist. Karen's amazing facials are a culmination of methods learned at the Aveda Institute, International Dermal Institute, and the Upledger Institute. The result is a unique experience that will leave your face, body and soul relaxed and renewed!
Nicolena Inniss is a dedicated massage therapist whose focus is on the overall well-being of her clients. Since gaining her certification in 2006, she has gained professional experience performing massage in day spas, chiropractic offices and rehabilitation centers. She assesses the individual needs of her clients and works toward improving their flexibility, stress reduction and overall wellness. She encourages clients to use massage as an intro into a healthier lifestyle and believes that massage is not a luxury, but a necessary component of stress management and healthy physical condition.
Sandi Matti has been working in salons in the Metro Detroit area since she was 16 years old. After obtaining her cosmetology license in 2005, she went on to train at MUDMakeupDesignorySchool in SoHo, New York. While attending MUD, she did hair and make up for a variety of photo shoots where she continued to hone her craft. Upon returning to Detroit, she quickly started working with some of Detroit’s noted photographers. Sandi is a skilled air-brush tan technician and has built up quite a reputation and loyal clientele. Her passion for the beauty industry is evident.
